Technologies allowing the user to transmit at DS-1 or higher speed  rate are categorized as broadband technologies. 

Broadband Technologies Transmission Capability - 1.544 M bps or higher, ranging into giga bits per sec.

Multi-media Services - include all combinations of voice, fax, data, still images, video, and multi-media. Normally these services are bandwidth intensive.
