There are two major types of wire-line LANs: Ethernet and Token Ring. The Ethernet LAN most deployed in industry supports 10 M bps, 100 M bps and 1000 M bps speeds. The Token Passing LANs are available conforming to Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) standards, supporting 100 M bps and Token Ring standards, supporting 4 and 16 M bps speeds.
