ATM access standards are in place or worked upon for Native ATM, Frame Relay, SONET and other options such as Native LAN protocols at 10 and 16 M bps, High Speed Serial Interface (HSSI), High Speed Peripheral Interface (HPPI), Fiber Channel, Routers, Bridges and 56 K bps Leased Lines.

Access is available through Frame Relay, SMDS, DS3 for Native ATM. Carriers offer, with SONET, OC-3 (155.52 Mbps) over single-mode fiber.
