                                          Infrared Spectrum

Optical transmission is very closely interwoven between a light source, composition of the optical and a detector. A light source emits a wavelength to travel through the fiber. This wave is modulated to carry data. The modulated pulse, as it travels through the fiber, becomes distorted. The wavelengths ( 1.3 - 1.5 micrometers) in the infrared spectrum region are better suited for optical communications.
