The Internet network is a communications network connecting a multitude of business networks (LANs and WANs) and residential computers worldwide. Each country has high speed networks connecting ISPs. In turn these high speed networks are networked by NAPs. Ca*Net4 is a Canadian network connecting Canadian ISPs and connected to the U.S. NAPs. The U.S. has many high speed networks (BBN, vBNS, UUNET). Europe, Japan and all other nations have their high speed networks connecting their ISPs. The high speed network connections operate at a very high speed and use SONET and WDM technologies.
