_________________ __________ The new breed of computing is helping organizations, private and public, to do business electronically by using the Internet. All the business transactions take place via telecommunications network. e-Commerce has become a significant global economic driver in the 21st century. e-Commerce takes many forms. Most common types are Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer. Business-to-Business - Includes electronic market transactions between organizations. Most corporations see considerable cost savings by making transactions with other organizations and their own processes electronic. Business-to-Consumer - Includes retailing transactions with individual shoppers over the Internet. Typical examples are buying books from Indigo and Amazon, computer systems from Dell and IBM. Consumer-to-Consumer - Includes consumers selling directly to other consumers. Several auction sites, like e-Bay, allow individuals to place their items for sell. Consumer-to-Business - Includes individuals selling products and services to organizations. Non-business - Includes academic institutions, religious organizations, social organizations and government agencies using e-commerce to reduce their costs. Intra-business - Includes all internal organizational activities such as exchange of services and information.
