Electronic transactions have changed how business is done. Old model - suppliers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers were involved in the chain to sell a product to a customer. A supplier had to support intermediatories which added overheads for doing business. e-Commerce on the Internet allows a supplier to sell directly to individuals. Many corporations took advantage of this model. The Internet helped the supplier to go to the next model: Cyber-mediated. The cyber-mediated model allows suppliers to put additional information about their product on their web site. Amazon used this model to provide for a book a summary of the contents, background on the author, comments from clients on the material contained in the book.
