There is not much difference between e-Commerce and e-Business. Both achieve the same goal - computerize, some, if not all the business processes.

EDI standards have been with us for decades. Most of these systems were deployed by major corporations who could afford them and ensured that everyone else doing business with them conformed to the EDI standards.

There are many players, as we discussed in previous slides, who offer templates with all the necessary tools to convert conventional systems to online systems. 

The Integrated Solution Providers like IBM and HP provide customized solutions.

The three type of solutions are:
                            - Developed on a specific hardware and software platform
                            - Application specific solution (application not transportable from one platform to another
                              platform)
                            - System Integrators integrating different components of a system for a
                              specific solution (Computer hardware, Operating system, Applications
                              software and Communications system)

The Web Services are building blocks for creating open distributed systems , and allow companies and individuals to quickly and inexpensively make their digital assets available worldwide.
