ADSL - Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Loop

FDDI - Fiber Distributed Digital Interface 

IP - Internet Protocol

LMDS - Local Multipoint Distribution Service

MGCP - Media Gateway Control Protocol

MMDS - Multi-channel Multipoint Distribution Service 

MPLS - Multi-Protocol Label Switching, a protocol developed by the IETF, to handle delay sensitive traffic over the Internet.

PSTN - Public Switched Telephone System.

SIP - Session Initiation Protocol 

SONET - Synchronous Optical Network is a standard for optical transport that defines optical carrier levels and their electrically equivalent synchronous transport signals. SONET allows a multi-vendor environment and positions the network for transport of new services.

VLAN - Virtual Local Area Network
