4 G networks are envisioned to provide capabilities to support very wide bandwidths and Global seamless roaming. Note: When it comes to very wide bandwidths wire-line networks with optical fiber have the capability to support tera-bits-per-sec data transmission. Amid projections of a boom in wireless data, major vendors are sketching out the strategies to define and develop fourth-generation cellular networks. These networks will not be deployed in North America until 2012. Japan is investing $10 Billion in 4G development and targeting 4G services around 2007.
