Module 9 - Wireless Systems and Technologies Slide 76 of 80 ________________ What is HyperLAN ?
________________ HyperLAN, was developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), as a part of the Broadband Radio Access Network (BRAN) family of standards: HiperLAN Type1 (high speed wireless LAN0, Hiper LAN Type2 (short range wireless access to IP, ATM and UMTS networks), HyperAccess (fixed wireless broadband point-to-multipoint) and HyperLink (wireless broadband interconnection). HyperLAN Type1 operates in 5 G Hz radio band and supports up to 24 M bps. HyperLAN Type2 also operates in the 5 G Hz radio band and supports up to 54 M bps. HyperAccess provides outdoor high speed (25 M bps) radio access. It provides fixed radio connections to customer premises and is capable of supporting mult-media applications. HyperLAN Type2 can be used for distribution within the premises. HyperLink provides point-to-point interconnection at up to 155 M bps over distances up to 150 m.
