                             ATM Network Building Blocks - Virtual Circuits

Virtual Channels (VCs) from an end-user are bundled into Virtual Paths (VPs). The ATM switch, using translation tables, maps the incoming VCs and VPs to the outgoing VCs and VPs. 

Tables show how the switch maps the VCs and VPs for end-to-end connections.
